Product Details

HarvestStorm One — 4-Channel Pulsed DC Controller

The most capable electroculture stimulation platform we’ve built — available now at a fraction of its original deployment cost.

What It Is

The HarvestStorm One is a Raspberry Pi-based control system that delivers independently programmable pulsed DC field stimulation across four separate output channels. Each channel drives an electrode pair in your soil, letting you run different stimulation protocols in different growing zones simultaneously — or cover a larger area with a single unit.

This unit was previously deployed commercially at $1,000/unit with on-site installation. You’re getting the hardware, source code, and full programming documentation for $449 — no installation service, but everything you need to deploy and customize it yourself.

Hardware Specs

4 Independent Output Channels Each channel delivers low-voltage pulsed DC through electrode leads placed in the root zone. Pulse frequency, duty cycle, and on/off scheduling are all independently configurable per channel.

Raspberry Pi Core Full Linux environment means you can SSH in, edit the code, install additional packages, or completely replace the control software. It’s a real computer, not a locked-down microcontroller.

Per-Channel Color LEDs At a glance you can see what each channel is doing — active pulse, idle, fault, or scheduled-off. No guessing.

Ethernet + WiFi Connect to your home or farm network and manage the unit remotely. The included software exposes a simple interface for schedule editing. The RPi’s built-in WiFi means no separate adapter needed.

What’s Included

  • HarvestStorm One unit (tested, functional)
  • Power supply
  • Source code (Python-based control software)
  • Programming enhancement guide — documented extension points, suggested modifications, protocol ideas
  • 4 electrode lead pairs
  • 90-day warranty

Who It’s For

This is a unit for the technical grower — someone comfortable with a Raspberry Pi, who wants to experiment seriously with active pulsed DC electroculture and has the confidence to work with the code. The enhancement guide gives you a running start on modifications; the full source means the ceiling is whatever you can build.

If you want a simpler passive setup, see the HarvestStorm Atmospheric Collector or Expansion Unit.

The Evidence Base

Active pulsed DC field stimulation of plant root zones is one of the most studied electroculture modalities. See our research cards below for the supporting literature on biomass gains, nutrient transport effects, and water enrichment responses documented in peer-reviewed studies.

What the Research Says

Scientific claims relevant to this product, drawn from our research library.

general 9 studies

Active electric field stimulation significantly increases plant biomass and harvest yield.

Multiple empirical trials demonstrate that applying active electric fields or currents to seeds and growing plants promotes faster development and higher yields compared to untreated controls. This effect is observed across diverse species, including cereals, root vegetables, and leafy greens.

soil 2 studies

DC current applied to soil drives measurable increases in plant mineral uptake, especially calcium and zinc.

Direct current through soil electrodes creates an electroosmotic gradient that mobilizes and concentrates mineral ions into plant tissue. In African nightshade, 16V DC produced leaf calcium +27.5%, stem zinc +244.4%, and stem magnesium +15.6% compared to untreated controls — demonstrating that electrical stimulation can function as a practical mineral-enrichment tool.

From the community

David has been extremely helpful with helping us get started with electroculture. He kept tabs on us every step of the way and as a result of the technology and his efforts we yielded 50% more tomatoes (+28% by weight)!

Weber and Lang P. Philadelphia, MS · September 2013

I was surprised at what a strong effect the electrical fertilizer unit had on my garden. This was especially noticeable with the tomatoes. The tomatoes near the field generator grew much larger and ripened a good week or more earlier than the distant ones. This also happened with the broccoli and eggplant.

William P. St. Louis, MO · September 2013

My dad and I found David's website while searching for a 6th grade science project... Our electrified tomato plant produced 40% more than the control tomato plant. Thanks to David I won 1st place in botany for my school's Science Fair.
