Signal Expansion Unit
The electrode delivery end of your stimulator setup. Plug directly into your HarvestStorm or EF stimulator’s output, position the electrodes in the root zone, and let your stimulator do the rest.
How It Fits Into Your System
Your stimulator generates the signal — a precise pulsed DC waveform, timing interval, and voltage profile chosen for the application. The Signal Expansion Unit carries that signal from the stimulator to the plant root zone through two carbon steel electrodes. The stimulator is the brain; this is the hands.
That separation matters. Because the signal is fully controlled upstream, you can reposition, replace, or add electrode units without touching your stimulator’s programming. Move zones between beds. Add coverage to a new row. Swap electrodes mid-season. The program stays locked.
Multi-Zone Coverage with the HarvestStorm One
The HarvestStorm One runs four independent channels. Each channel gets its own Signal Expansion Unit — four zones, each running the channel’s programmed pulse interval. Run identical protocols across four beds for a controlled comparison, or run different programs on different crops at the same time.
What the Research Shows
Delivering a controlled electrical signal to the root zone is one of the most studied electroculture interventions:
- Active electric field exposure increases biomass and yield across multiple crop species
- DC fields influence mineral and nutrient transport through electroosmotic mechanisms in plant tissue
- Weak pulsed electric fields enhance stem water enrichment — relevant for drought resistance and water-use efficiency
Electrode Placement
- Connect the unit’s leads to your stimulator’s output terminals
- Push both electrodes into the soil in the root zone, roughly 6–10 inches apart
- Confirm your stimulator is running the desired program
- Observe over days to weeks; reposition or adjust electrode spacing to refine field geometry

From the community
David has been extremely helpful with helping us get started with electroculture. He kept tabs on us every step of the way and as a result of the technology and his efforts we yielded 50% more tomatoes (+28% by weight)!
I was surprised at what a strong effect the electrical fertilizer unit had on my garden. This was especially noticeable with the tomatoes. The tomatoes near the field generator grew much larger and ripened a good week or more earlier than the distant ones. This also happened with the broccoli and eggplant.
My dad and I found David's website while searching for a 6th grade science project... Our electrified tomato plant produced 40% more than the control tomato plant. Thanks to David I won 1st place in botany for my school's Science Fair.
